Band Bio (June 2002-June 2009)

La Sed ("The Thirst" in Spanish) was a female-fronted rock band that played their own brand of original music. They were known for their modern rock songs...tinged with elements of metal and alt rock, packaged in progressive/pop arrangements and delivered with lots of groove.

The band was founded in 2002 by the bassist "Al" Alvarez while living in his native Puerto Rico, then moving to Houston in 2004, deciding to step up to the "big stage"...aka... the U. S. of A. The drummer at that time, Efrain Ramos, followed arriving in early 2005. From their success conquering the Puerto Rican rock scene, the journey was still all "uphill". But thru hard work and determination, Al and Efrain continued to move forwards with the project to the point where the band became a well-known, established and in the Houston-Galveston area. In it's last version, along with Al on bass and Efrain on drums, the line up also includes guitarists Billy Weaver and Benjamin Leviston, keyboardist Shawn Crowson, who also does some lead vocals/acoustic guitar in the group. Last, but not least, Monica Trevino, was the lead singer and front woman. With five songwriters in the band, ALL contributions were very much a part of the bands great success. And they did it consistently show after show.

La Sed was recording their debut CD, along with two EP's (one English, one Spanish) with Houston based recording engineer BeeJay Chester. It was an ambitious recording schedule that tested the discipline of the band. Unfortuanatrely, it was not to be. What some members were saying and the actions they were taking were two different things. So after careful consideration, projection, and realization Al deceide to "pull the plug." No one needed to waste any more time with a situation that was going nowhere quick.

Their goals were what they have always were from the start: First, great songs...second performed to the highest of musical standards, and third a live show that leaves you happy as hell you came out to see them live... and wishing for more! La Sed rocked! Thanks to ALL for your support thru the years.
